Feeding Chickens
While I am not that bothered at providing our chickens with "organic" feed I do want to make sure that the feed they get is vegetarian and also GM Free.
It was surprising to us that many farm suppliers could not guarantee that the layers pellets where GM free and some corn and mixed grain were also suspect. Why bother if their is Genetically Modified material in chicken food - simple if I read a label that says includes GM then I will not buy it so why buy feedstuffs that contain genetically modified seed or animal feed.
We ended up buying our mixed grain from the farm supplier and the layers pellets from Pets at Home - and while it is slightly more expensive we are happy to know that the label on it says "GM Free and Vegetarian" on our chicken food.
