When you think of Edinburgh you probably think of Edinburgh Castle and yes it is well worth the visit. Edinburgh Castle if run by Historic Scotland and you need to plan on 1-2 hours or more to visit and explore the castle, eat in the restaurants and shop in the gift stores at the Castle.
The acropolis, also known as the National Monument, is Scotland's memorial to those who died in the Napoleonic Wars. Construction started in 1822 however money ran out and it was never completed. Tourist and local families love to visit Calton Hill where not only do you get some exercise in walking you will also discover excellent views over Edinburgh.
Dugald Stewart Monument is another monument on Calton Hill, built in 1831 as a memorial to the Scottish philosopher Dugald Stewart.

So what is going on - a picture of a Highland Cow, and you thought this was about Edinburgh, well it is and this picture was taken beside one of the best Caravan and Campsites in Edinburgh. Dont' worry there is a fence between you and the highland cattle (to protect the cattle!).
